Roman Missal — Music
Introduction
One of the key features of the new edition of the Roman Missal is the amount of music it contains for practical use and to remind us of the integral place of music in the liturgy. The chants of Missal are offered as a basic, foundational setting for every parish which can be sung at any Mass, Sunday or weekday. To facilitate their use this website will offer the chants in versions suitable for inclusion in service leaflets.

Bishops' Conference Statement
In 2014 the Bishops' Conference made a Statement to inform parishes that from Pentecost 2014 only musical settings of the new translation may be used in the celebration of Masses in English. To support the statement a selection of current settings for a variety of resources was identified as an assistance to parishes.
Composing for the Roman Missal
The changes to the Order of Mass have meant that there is a need for new musical settings, in addition to the Chants of the Roman Missal itself.
This page offers guidance to composers, accurate texts from the Missal amd details of the Process for Permission to Publish — any setting of the Order of Mass texts need to be approved for publication befor being made available to others.
