Introduction

Following the Holy Father's announcement of his Resignation the following liturgical information and prayer resources is offered to the Church in England and Wales. The material is structured in three stages:

• Prayer for the Pope
  for use from the announcement of the Resignation — we pray for Pope Benedict.
• Prayer for the Church
  for use following the Resignation and during the Conclave — we pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the Church.
• Prayer upon the Election of the new Pope
  for use from the day of the Election of the new Pope — we pray for the successor of St Peter.
